Dominic Nahr is the recipient of numerous awards, including a World Press Photo Award, Pictures of the Year International Award, the Leica Oskar Barnack Newcomer Award, and multiple Swiss Press Photo Awards. In 2024 he was named Swiss Press Photographer of the Year. In 2025 he received the Stern Prize for Photo Reportage of the Year and the Zürcher Journalistenpreis together with journalist Ivo Mijnssen.
In this Artist Talk Dominic Nahr will talk about his extensive experience covering conflict zones, in particular his ongoing work in Ukraine for NZZ. This will serve as context to his original work for the the exhibition during Journées photographiques de Bienne, 9.-31.5.2026 | Where the City Breathes where he covered the city of Biel/Bienne. Produced in 2026, this documentary work was created for exhibition with Leica Camera and forms part of an ongoing exploration of place, presence, and contemporary urban life.
