Karin Rehn-Kaufmann is Art Director & Chief Representative of Leica Galleries and is responsible for all 26 Leica Galleries around the world.

Inas Fayed has been editor-in-chief of Leica Fotografie International (LFI) for many years and also works as a curator for the Ernst Leitz Museum in Wetzlar, the Leica Gallery Wetzlar and other locations.

Together they have built up five pillars of culture at Leica Camera:

  • Leica Fotografie International (LFI*, magazine and online gallery)
  • Leica Galleries (currently 26 worldwide)
  • Leica Oskar Barnack Award (LOBA)
  • Ernst Leitz Museum
  • Leica Hall of Fame and Leica Picture of the Year

While each of these cultural pillars is designed to appeal to a different audience, they all give photographers a platform and allow their series of images to be seen, evaluated and curated.

In her presentation, Karin Rehn-Kaufmann discusses her personal approach to image series as a curator and LOBA jury president. Using portfolios from exhibitions, LFI and LOBA, she asks: what makes an outstanding series of photographs?

Inas Fayed will show why LFI selects different stories and formats and provide an insight into very different editions. Using a selection of award-winning works from the Swiss section of the LFI.Gallery, Inas Fayed provides an insight into the work of the picture editors.

*In addition to the printed magazine, the LFI website is a vibrant hub brimming with extended content. This includes the LFI.Gallery – a curated platform showcasing images by photography enthusiasts from around the world.
